Spoon the vanilla frosting into a piping bag fitted with a 1A tip. Starting at the center of each cupcake, pipe the frosting in a smooth spiral motion, working your way outward to create a nice even swirl.

Fill another piping bag with black decorating icing and fit it with a small round tip. Pipe a thin, curved line over the top of the frosting, looping it slightly to resemble a string of holiday lights.

Gently press 7-8 M&Ms along the black icing “string,” spacing them out to look like colorful bulbs. Continue until all cupcakes are decorated.

Serve and enjoy, or keep them in an airtight container until you’re ready to serve.
