Cut the cherry tomatoes in half lengthwise. Place each half cut-side down on your board. Carefully make a small slit down the curved side to form wings. Use the tip of your knife to gently separate the sides just enough so the “wings” open slightly. Then, cut the black olives in half lengthwise. Cut each half in half again to get four small pieces. These will be used for the heads.
Drizzle a little balsamic glaze over each slice of mozzarella. You don’t need much - just enough to add a touch of flavor and help everything stick together.
Place one basil leaf on top of each glazed mozzarella slice. Press it down gently so it stays in place.
Add a tomato half on top of the basil, cut-side down and the slit for the wings facing up. Then, place one piece of the olive pieces at the front of each tomato half to form the ladybug’s head.
Using the tip of your balsamic glaze bottle, make tiny dots on the back of each tomato to create the ladybug spots. If your glaze is thick, dip a toothpick in it and gently dot the tomatoes for more control.
Want to make them easier to serve or pick up? Place each assembled ladybug bite on a cracker - totally optional, but a fun and practical touch.
