Ingredients

  • 1 green bell pepper sliced and halved
  • 1 yellow onion quartered and sliced
  • 14 oz package shaved steak
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 12 slider rolls
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready while you prepare the sliders.
  • Slice the green bell pepper into thin strips and cut them in half for easier layering. Then chop the onion.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and toss in the sliced onion and bell pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften slightly and start to become fragrant. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
  • In the same skillet, add the shaved steak. Sprinkle in the steak seasoning, and cook the meat over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spatula as it browns. This should take about 5-7 minutes, depending on your skillet’s heat.
  • Once the steak is fully browned, return the sautéed peppers and onions to the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for another 3-5 minutes to blend the flavors. Remove the skillet from heat.
  • Slice the slider rolls horizontally as one connected piece, keeping the top and bottom halves intact.
  • Place the bottom half of the rolls into a casserole dish or baking pan. Spread a little over half of the steak, onion, and pepper mixture evenly across the bottom half of the rolls. Lay 4 slices of provolone cheese over the top, making sure to cover the filling.
  • Spread the remaining meat mixture on top of the provolone layer. Break the remaining slices of provolone into smaller pieces and tuck some into any gaps and layer on top to ensure every bite is cheesy.
  • Place the top half of the slider rolls over the filling. Melt the butter in a small bowl, then brush it generously over the tops of the rolls to help them toast beautifully in the oven.
  • Transfer the casserole dish to the preheated oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
  • Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool slightly before slicing them into individual portions. Serve warm and enjoy the melty, savory goodness!
